Why BioPaper Is The Most Eco-Friendly Card

biopaper card vs pvc card

We did some studies on the power consumption and carbon emissions for PVC cards, paper cards, and BioPaper cards separately, and we have the following data.

Firstly, let’s look at PVC cards;

Power consumption of PVC cards

Producing one PVC RFID card consumes 20 W/H, and 1 W/H generates 1g of CO2.

That’s to say, 20g of CO2 will be emitted when producing one PVC RFID card.

Carbon emissions of PVC cards

The carbon emission of one PVC RFID card is 40g during its whole lifecycle.

Secondly, let’s look at paper cards;

Power consumption of paper cards

Producing one paper RFID card consumes 60 W/H, and 1 W/H generates 1g of CO2.

That’s to say, 60g of CO2 will be emitted when producing one paper RFID card.

Carbon emissions of paper cards

The carbon emission of one paper RFID card is 140g during its whole lifecycle.

P.S.: the production of paper consumes way much more power than the others.

Lastly, let’s look at BioPaper cards and see how it costs.

Power consumption of BioPaper cards

Producing one BioPaper RFID card consumes 10 W/H, and 1 W/H generates 1g of CO2.

That’s to say, only 10g of CO2 will be emitted when producing one BioPaper RFID card.

Carbon emissions of BioPaper cards

The carbon emission of one BioPaper RFID card is 25g during its whole lifecycle.

Besides, compared with traditional paper, the production of BioPaper does not produce wastewater, waste gas, or waste residue, which is a pollution-free eco-friendly paper material.

PVC VS BioPaper, how to choose?

According to the industry report, 6 billion plastic cards are consumed each year. If we replace them all with BioPaper cards, carbon emissions will decrease by 90,000 tons/year.

Paper VS BioPaper, how to choose?

Based on an annual consumption of 6.5 billion paper cards, if we replace them with BioPaper cards, carbon emissions will decrease by 750,000 tons/year.

Also, it will save 8 million liters of freshwater, and 800,000 trees each year, which is equivalent to 6,000 acres of tree planting.
